GUIDE: Celebrate the Fourth of July at these Phoenix-area events

The hot weather should not keep you from celebrating Independence Day. The Phoenix area has many options, both outdoor and indoor, to enjoy the holiday. Here is where you can relax and watch the fireworks this summer:

Gilbert

The town of Gilbert is hosting its annual Fourth of July celebration at Higley High School.

When: 6-9 p.m., fireworks begin at 8:30 p.m.
Where: Higley High School, 4068 E. Pecos Road, Gilbert.
Price: free
Parking: free at Higley High School; additional free parking and viewing at Centennial Elementary School, Legacy Traditional Academy, Higley Unified School District, as well as where signs are placed along Recker and Pecos roads
Activities: food trucks
Road restrictions: Pecos from Ranch House Parkway to Recker Road as well as Recker from Pecos to Williams Field Road will be closed from 8:15-9:30 p.m.

Chandler

The city of Chandler is hosting its July 4th Fireworks Spectacular,” produced by R-Entertainment, at Tumbleweed Park.

When: 6:30-9:30 p.m.; fireworks begin at 9 p.m.
Where: Tumbleweed Park, 2250 S. McQueen Road, Chandler.
Price: free
Parking: $5 per vehicle, cash only; parking entrances are located at Hamilton Street and Germann Road, and McQueen Road and Celebration Way.
Activities: music from Riviera Broadcasting’s DJs, sand volleyball, cornhole, Arizona State Fair activities including a patriotic coloring station and photo booth, and more
Road restrictions: ongoing closures, none specific to Fourth of July celebrations

Queen Creek

Your Hometown 4th returns to the place it began at Schnepf Farms for a fireworks show in Queen Creek.

When: 4-9 p.m.
Where: Schnepf Farms, 24610 S. Rittenhouse Road, Queen Creek
Price: $20 general admission, $45 VIP
Parking: general admission parking entrances off of Riggs and Rittenhouse roads; VIP parking off of Cloud Road

All proceeds from the Tempe Town Lake Festival will benefit Kiwanis Club of Tempe, an organization that supports local children and youth organizations.

Activities: live performances from The Big Zephyr, Donovan and the All Stars, and The “TNT” Band, food court and a free inflatable village with a variety of rides and attractions

Enjoy the celebrations indoors at Scottdale’s Fourth of July celebration at Westworld, presented by Plexus.

When: 4-9:30 p.m.; fireworks begin at 9 p.m.
Where: Westworld of Scottsdale, 16601 N. Pima Road, Scottsdale.

Parking: $5 (cash only)
Activities: “Fortnite 4th experience,” including “Fortnite” pro gamer playing live and battle royale laser tag, stunt dog show, various rides, petting zoo, and more

Mesa is celebrating its 10th annual 4th of July Celebration of Freedom event at Mesa Amphitheatre and Convention Center complex.

The city of Phoenix is hosting its 34th annual Fabulous Phoenix 4th at Steele Indian School Park.

When: 6-10 p.m.; fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m.
Where: Steele Indian School Park, 300 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix.
Price: free
Parking: no vehicle entrance or public parking; pedestrian entrances located at Central Avenue and Glenrosa Avenue, Third Street and Indian School Road, and Seventh Street just north of Turney Avenue
Activities: two stages with musical acts and entertainers, food vendors, interactive exhibits, vintage car show and a “Kid’s World” featuring various rides and activities
Road restrictions: North Seventh Street from East Highland Avenue to East Indian School Road, East Indian School Road from North Seventh Street to North Central Avenue, and North Central Avenue from East Indian School Road to West Campbell Avenue
