Westbound I-10 will close this weekend between Queen Creek Road and Loop 202 so Arizona Department of Transportation crews can remove and replace overhead signs for the system interchange with the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway, according to a news release from ADOT.
The freeway will close from 10 p.m. June 21 to 5 a.m. June 24. Two additional closures will be scheduled later in the summer to finish the project. The westbound I-10 on-ramps at Queen Creek Road and the westbound on- and off-ramps at Wild Horse Pass Boulevard will also be closed, according to ADOT.
Drivers heading west on I-10 will exit at Queen Creek Road and travel east to Price Road, north to Loop 202 and then east to return to I-10. Local business access from westbound I-10 to the Gila River Hotel & Casino area will be available by traveling west on Queen Creek Road and north on Maricopa Road, according to ADOT.
The Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway will eventually connect the East Valley and West Valley via a 22-mile stretch of freeway. Construction is expected to be completed in 2020.
