Curfew closes Gilbert meetings to public; no protests seen in town

The Gilbert Town Council meeting for June 2 will still take place but remain closed to in-person attendance, with several items tabled, as part of the town’s response to the statewide curfew, town officials said.

COVID-19: Gilbert jumps 23 new cases over weekend into June 1

Across Gilbert's six ZIP codes, there were 318 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 on June 1, according to data from the state. That's an increase of 23 from May 29. That represents an increase of 14.39% across the town in the past six days.

The Arizona Department of Education released its "Roadmap for Reopening Schools" June 1, which offers guidance to school leaders on reopening schools under four scenarios in the wake of the coronavirus closures for the next academic year.
