The Chandler Chamber of Commerce will host a Chandler City Council candidate forum May 19. The forum will feature the six candidates for Chandler City Council in the August election.

The forum will be broadcast locally on Cox Channel 11, CenturyLink Channel 8502 and on Orbital Cable in Sun Lakes at 5 p.m.

The event will be moderated by Judge Jay Tibshraeny from the San Marcos District of the Maricopa County Justice Court, according to the chamber. Prior to serving as judge, Tibshraeny served seven terms as the mayor of Chandler.

“Judge Tibshraeny’s expertise and background is a perfect fit to moderate potential City Council candidates,” said Terri Kimble, president and CEO of the Chandler chamber, in a news release.

The candidates will give introductory remarks with a lightning round of questions allowing yes or no answers.

"The Chandler Chamber has always taken a proactive approach to government affairs that benefit business and the community," Kimble said in the release. "The candidate forum is an accessible way for residents of Chandler to learn about the candidates and their stands on issues of importance in order to make an informed decision when going to the polls.”

The Chandler community is encouraged to submit questions for the forum by emailing [email protected]
