Breakfast and lunch prices will increase for the 2022-23 school year following unanimous approval from the board. This rise in costs is the first increase since the 2019-20 school year but was adjusted for the upcoming year due to inflation. Student breakfast prices districtwide increased from $1.75 to $2, and elementary lunch rose from $2.95 to $3. Junior high and high school student lunches will not change in cost.
Hamilton High School tennis courts were also named after Phil Gonzales, who, according to the meeting agenda, "is the recipient of several coach of the year awards, regional championships, six sectional championships, seven Final Four State finishes, team state runners up and back-to-back state doubles championships." Gonzales was inducted into the Chandler Sports Hall of Fame in February.
Also discussed at the meeting during public comment was mental health resources, prompted by the recent deaths of three students within CUSD. Several speakers commented on the availability of mental health resources, some of which can be found here.
CUSD board members said they will be discussing mental health in future meetings, and the next CUSD meeting will take place on June 22.
