Chandler USD to continue with remote learning through first quarter

The Chandler USD governing board voted unanimously Aug. 5 to continue with remote learning through the first quarter of the school year and re-evaluate on Sept. 23 if the criteria for reopening schools has not yet been met as the number of coronavirus cases continues to grow across Arizona.

State releases metrics for schools to determine start of in-person instruction

The Arizona departments of Health Services and Education released benchmarks on COVID-19 metrics that local school districts can use to judge when to reopen schools, in part or in full, to in-person instruction.



Hamilton High School to serve as COVID-19 testing site

Hamilton High School will serve as a COVID-19 testing location beginning Aug. 7, according to the school district.

Barros Pizza moved its location at 1431 E. Williams Field Road, Gilbert, to 2571 S. Market St., Gilbert, in the SanTan Village Marketplace on May 20. It assumed the lease of a Ruby Tuesday there.

Mitch’s Beads owner has followed four-decade path from swap meet to Gilbert store

At the store, customers will not just find beads, but tools and supplies like chain and leather cording. Business is steady through the year, too, owner Mitchell Lawitz said, without seasonal ups and downs. Even through the coronavirus pandemic, he only saw a small drop-off in business.
