Data: Across Arizona 13% of coronavirus cases have resulted in hospitalization

The Arizona Department of Health Services continues to release more detailed data about how the coronavirus is impacting the state. As of May 12, the state reported 1,564 cases resulted in hospitalization—13% of the total amount of cases statewide.


April 6 marks the date in Arizona where the most hospitalizations were recorded in a single day, 52. The number of hospitalizations has decreased since April 6, but fluctuates daily.

Maricopa County, with more than half of the state's population, carries the majority of the state's hospitalizations at 859 on May 12.


Statewide, more men than women have been hospitalized with COVID-19. Additionally, those 65 and older make up a majority of hospitalizations statewide.
