Here are the Valley grocers offering special hours for seniors during the coronavirus

Federal and state health officials have warned that coronavirus poses a greater risk to seniors. In Maricopa County, as of March 25, there were 70 cases among adults age 60 and over. As such, local grocery stores have responded by instituting special hours when the stores are open to seniors to limit potential exposure.


Here are the Valley stores offering senior hours:

  • AJ's Fine Foods: Wednesdays 5-6 a.m.

  • Albertsons: Tuesdays and Thursdays 7-9 a.m.

  • Bashas': Wednesdays 5-6 a.m.

  • Big Lots: first hour of business

  • Costo: Tuesdays and Thursdays for members 60 and older 8-9 a.m.

  • Dollar General: first hour of business

  • Food City: Wednesdays 5-6 a.m.

  • Fry's and Fry's Marketplace: Mondays through Thursdays 6-7 a.m.

  • Ranch Market: Daily 6-7 a.m. for seniors and first responders

  • Safeway: Tuesdays and Thursdays 7-9 a.m.

  • Sam's Club: Tuesdays and Thursdays for "shop from your car" concierge service 7-9 a.m.

  • Target: Wednesdays during the first hour of business

  • Trader Joe's: first hour of daily shopping 9-10 a.m.

  • Walgreens: Tuesdays 8-9 a.m.; caregivers and immediate family also allowed

  • Walmart: Tuesdays for one hour before stores open

  • Whole Foods: daily one hour before stores open 8-9 a.m.
