The Chandler USD governing board voted 3-1 to approve a two-year contract for Frank Narducci to serve the district as superintendent through June 30, 2024 during a meeting Dec. 8.

Board member Lara Bruner was the lone dissenting vote. She said she could not vote for the contract due to the nature of the superintendent search, which she felt lacked feedback from the community and that her dissenting vote had nothing to do with Narducci.

Narducci has been serving as interim superintendent since the start of the 2021-22 school year after he replaced long-time superintendent Camille Casteel who retired at the end of the 2020-21 school district. The board appointed Narducci to serve in the role in the interim.

Narducci's contract begins in January.

Narducci had prerviously served Chandler USD as the assistant superintendent of elementary schools since 2012, according to the district and he had been in the district since 1996 with 38 years of experience in public education, according to the district.

"These are tough times to lead," Narducci said Dec. 8 during the meeting. "And we know that tough times need tough leaders."
