Originally constructed in 1950, The Aloha motel will have a grand opening ceremony on May 7 following renovations. The ceremony will run from 4-8 p.m., and all are welcome, according to a news release.

The 26-room motel first started undergoing renovations in 2019 when investors John Hylton and Bill Simmonds toured the property. They were attracted to the "funky Hawaiian vibe" and preserved the tropical feeling in the remodel, according to the release. The motel rooms feature decorations, such as vintage Hawaii photos from local collector Douglas Abrahamson and photography from local artist Randy Slack.

“We are excited to see The Aloha reopen and give visitors to our community a unique place to stay,” Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke said in the release. “This is a great example of thoughtful redevelopment, preserving the best aspects of a classic Chandler property while giving it new life.”

The hotel is located at 445 N. Arizona Ave., Chandler. www.alohaarizona.com
