Attend a park’s opening

The town of Gilbert will hold its ribbon cutting on Phase I of the planned 272-acre Gilbert Regional Park, including “The Mountain,” a multilevel playground area; "The Creek," a tot play area; and "The Falls," a large splash pad. A glow party will be held at night.

Compete in charity golf event at Western Skies

Proceeds from the Patriot Invitational, which Western Skies Golf Club anticipates making an annual event, will support Fields of Honor, which provides scholarships to children and families of fallen or injured soldiers. Format of the tournament is an 18-hole, two-person scramble.

Perry Library is holding a special painting event for adults to learn how to paint like Bob Ross, the former host of PBS program "The Joy of Painting." A certified instructor is teaching how to paint a landscape in Ross’ style.
