Tannos Construction to build Friendswood’s first mixed-use space

Tannos Construction will break ground on a 63,400 square-foot, four-story building at 505 S. Friendswood Drive in early April. The $10 million building—the city’s first mixed-use development and its largest office space—will offer retail and restaurants on the ground floor and office space on the upper floors, accommodating as many as 250 employees. Pearland Toys R Us to close as chain ends U.S. operations

Toys R Us is seeking approval of a bankruptcy court to close all 735 of its U.S. store locations and liquidate all of its inventory. According to the company, there is a possibility that 200 of its highest performing locations could be combined with its Canadian operations to be sold off. Two weeks after the Parkland school shooting in Florida, Dick’s Sporting Goods announced it would no longer sell firearms to people under 21 and would no longer sell high-capacity magazines.
