Voters elected two new members and re-elected an incumbent to the Katy ISD school board May 10. Ashley Vann and Courtney Doyle will fill positions 3 and 4 respectively, while position 5 incumbent Henry Dibrell was re-elected for another term.
About 100 people, including some staff and administrators, loaded up onto yellow buses to see Memorial Parkway Elementary, Memorial Parkway Junior High, Mayde Creek Junior High and Mayde Creek High School.
True to form, the district began its series of 14 scheduled citizen bond committee meetings by sending the 200-person committee to bond school April 3 and April 16 at the district’s Education Support Complex.
High school students taking the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness end-of-course exams have had a lighter load this year as the Texas Legislature implemented changes reducing the number of tests that will be administered.
The Katy City Council approved the appointment of Byron Hebert as city administrator at its March 24 meeting. Hebert, who served as Katy’s director of finance prior to this appointment, replaces Johnny Nelson.
