A new building will help the fast-growing New Braunfels ISD.

The New Braunfels ISD Board of Trustees held its inaugural meeting at the new NBISD Administration Center, 1000 N. Walnut Ave., New Braunfels, on Oct. 21.

NBISD purchased the property formerly known as the Wells Fargo Building along with Seele Plaza, 1040 N. Walnut, in October 2016 to meet the needs of the quickly growing district.

The district added 424 students for the 2019-20 school year and is expected to continue growing in the coming years, Superintendent Randy Moczygemba said.

“As the district continues to grow additional staff will be needed,” Moczygemba said. “At the former education center, all office spaces were 100% occupied and meeting rooms had been converted to makeshift office space.”

The former Seele Plaza building has been occupied since May, and the former Wells Fargo building will be open on Oct. 28.

All NBISD administrative departments currently housed at the NBISD Education Center, 430 W. Mill St., New Braunfels, will relocate to the new administration center.

The NBISD Education Center, constructed in 1914, will be used for professional staff development.
