Updated 11:10 a.m. Oct. 23: This story originally stated the Texas Department of Transportation has suspended work on utilities and right of way acquisition. It has been corrected to say all right of way needed for this project has been acquired and is clear for construction, except for the relocation of the Kid's World Learning Center.

The Texas Department of Transportation has acquired almost all of the right of way needed for the project to widen FM 1097 between I-45 and Anderson Road in Willis from a two- to four-lane road with a continuous left-turn lane. Contractor Angel Brothers has completed 35% of the project.

The county and TxDOT are working with Entergy to schedule the last of the overhead power line relocations. The power line relocation must wait until the Kid's World Learning Center, located at 10083 FM 1097, Willis, relocates to its new building. The relocation is scheduled to be completed by mid November.
