Hundreds of thousands of voters across the country are expected to be registered Tuesday, Sept. 24, as part of the nonpartisan National Voter Registration Day event.

The nationwide campaign comes nearly two weeks before the Oct. 7 voter registration deadline for Texans to cast ballots in the Nov. 5 election. A completed and signed application is also required by this deadline for those who have had recent name and/or address changes.

Harris County voters may be electing new school board members or city council members and voting on constitutional amendments, among other ballot items. Early voting kicks off Oct. 21 and runs through Nov. 1 statewide.

Citizens can confirm their voter registration status at the Harris County tax assessor-collector and voter registrar’s website or at the Texas secretary of state’s website.

Visit www.harrisvotes.com for voting locations, sample ballots and other important information leading up to Election Day.

  • be a resident of the county in which application for registration is made.
