Brazoria County Judge Matt Sebesta as well as commissioners Ryan Cade and David Linder all handily won re-election on Tuesday as the Republican Party carried the county.

Sebesta received 68,556 votes, or 62.51 percent, to Democrat Robert Pruett's 41,121 or 37.49 percent.

This was the second time Pruett has challenged Sebesta, and he received a slightly larger share of votes than his 2014 run, a result of greater Democratic turnout in the county than in previous years.

Sebesta was first elected 2014 but has over 25 years of experience in elected office. County judges serve four-year terms.

Cade, representing Precinct 2, received 16,914 votes, or 59.81 percent of the vote, compared to 11,367, or 40.19 percent, for Democratic candidate Jackie Funkhouser.

In Precinct 4, Linder received 18,199 votes, taking 53.98 percent of the vote; Democratic candidate Arnetta Murray received 15,513 votes, or 46.02 percent.
