- Blackhawk Boulevard improvements
Despite some weather delays, waterline boring has been completed and piping has been installed at Shady Oaks and Wandering Trails. A storm sewer has been installed from Shady Oaks to Wandering Trails, with work continuing toward Edenvale Street.

Future project
2. Hwy. 288 frontage road
The city of Pearland finalized an agreement with Brazoria County and the Brazoria County Toll Road Authority on Aug. 9 to move up a project planned for the northbound frontage road along Hwy. 288 between Broadway Street and CR 59, allowing it to be completed five years ahead of schedule. Brazoria County is contributing $1.5 million to the project, with the Pearland Economic Development Corporation covering $750,000 in design and land costs. The new design will allow travel between the two streets without entering the freeway. It will also add a U-turn at CR 59 and add access to retail on the south side of Broadway.

3. Mykawa Road widening
The design phase for this project began in late March under LAN Engineering. The site survey and environmental study is underway and could take 15 to 18 months to complete. The road is being redesigned for four divided lanes with landscaped medians, curb and gutter and underground drainage. The improvements will run from Broadway Street to the Beltway 8 interchange. Construction will be overseen by the Texas Department of Transportation and is not slated to begin until May 2020.

4. Friendswood Lakes Boulevard extension
Galveston County has approved an interlocal agreement with the city of Friendswood and three property owners who donated 10 acres of right-of-way. The property owners also pledged $600,000 toward the cost of extending Friendswood Lakes Boulevard, a project identified in the 2017 Galveston County bond program. A design contract is the next step for the project, which will include a four-lane roadway, medians, sidewalks along both sides of the roadway, storm sewers and a creek-crossing bridge.
