The Grapevine-Colleyville ISD board of trustees approved an easement and right of way agreement with Oncor at its meeting March 26.

The easement was required so that Oncor can set a surface-mounted transformer and install underground wires, cables, conduits and supporting structures needed to support the new facilities at two district projects. One of these easements is for the new Cannon Elementary School and the other is for Mustang-Panther Stadium.

"The school district ... did work diligently to try to provide the least amount of space needed for an easement and right of way because as you know, that is going to limit some things the district can do on that portion of the property," GCISD Chief Operations Officer Paula Barbaroux said to the trustees.

Trustee Jesse Rodriguez asked about what can be done for the transformer that needs to be placed either at the Mustang-Panther Stadium or the school. Barbaroux said staff could look into what can be done to decorate or hide the transformer.

The board of trustees also moved out the substantial completion date for work at the Colleyville Heritage High School Multipurpose Activity Center.

Superintendent Robin Ryan said district staff knew there would be a substantial amount of concrete to be moved for repairs, so they had anticipated the changed completion date.

The board made a motion to move the substantial completion date out by 75 more calendar days to May 24.

Barbaroux said that as crews complete construction on the exterior of the facility and begin to work on the interior, that will help work "tremendously" to reach its goal of being finished on time.
