The South Castell Avenue Visioning Plan public meeting that was canceled due to inclement weather has been rescheduled for Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. in the New Braunfels Civic/Convention Center Ballroom, located at 375 S. Castell Ave.

The event is the final in a series of six public meetings that will help determine the future of the 10-acre swath of land that serves as a gateway to historic downtown New Braunfels. City officials have said the process is a citizen-led initiative that allows the city to communicate resident expectations to the developer of the project.

At the last public meeting in mid-November, Douglas Architects presented three options for what the mixed-use development could look like. Attendees gave feedback by filling out surveys, and the findings were presented at a Dec. 11 New Braunfels City Council meeting.

Officials said the format of the Jan. 24 meeting will prompt small group discussions on several topics and then give each group a chance to provide feedback to all attendees. An opportunity to provide individual input will also be extended before the meeting wraps.
