The fourth annual event is a combined effort between eight local law enforcement agencies, including the Austin Police Department, Buda Police Department, Hays County Sheriff's Office, Kyle Police Department, Lakeway Police Department, Round Rock Police Department, Travis County Sheriff’s Office and Williamson County Sheriff's Office. Officers train and compete together in front of the public. The event benefits the Sunshine Kids Foundation and the Greater Austin Crime Commission.

The inaugural festival features panels and discussions for new creative content and uses of media in the global community. Topics include “State of the Union of Conscious Media” with Regina Meredith and “Repurposing the Purpose of Media” with Ron James.

March 4 | It’s My Park Day


It's My Park DayAustin residents can join Austin Parks Foundation for the 15th annual event. Volunteers clean and repair city parks in Austin as part of the annual citywide tradition. In spring 2016, more than 3,500 volunteers helped complete 115 citywide park projects. Residents can submit project ideas to the Austin Parks Foundation. Volunteers should register online.

March 4 | Peace, Love, Long Center


The ninth anniversary gala for the Long Center for the Performing Arts is its largest fundraising event of the year, raising funds to continue expanding the Long Center’s mission as well as the eight education and outreach programs that impact more than 80,000 youth annually. Tickets include a reception, dinner and admission to “Let it Be” and the after-party. Individual tickets are also sold for “Let it Be” and the after-party.

Chaddick Dance Theater presents its annual winter concert showcase. Integrating the architectural design of Austin City Hall with modern and theatrical dance, this year’s piece will explore the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the search for the next direction on the path of life. A cast of seven dancers performs three artistic vignettes set on the outside plaza, mezzanine and amphitheater.

March 5 | ABC Zilker Kite Festival


ABC Kite FestThe event, founded by The Exchange Club of Austin, is organized by Friends of the ABC Zilker Park Kite Festival Inc. Featuring food and booths, the festival is presented and produced by ABC Home & Commercial Services and includes the second annual MossFest concert as well as competitions, such as a kite contest and the inaugural Anteater Fun Run. Proceeds from the event go to Communities In Schools of Central Texas, which works with schools to help at-risk youth stay in school and graduate, and the Moss Pieratt Foundation. The rain date is March 12.
