1. RM 1431 Gap Project


The Texas Department of Transportation  plans to expand RM 1431 from four to six lanes between Market Street and Cottonwood Creek Trail. Construction is expected to begin in late February and anticipated to last approximately 15 months, said Jennie Huerta, media and communications manager with the city of Cedar Park.

2. New Hope Drive extension


The city plans to extend New Hope Drive from Cottonwood Creek Trail to Ronald Reagan Boulevard. Cedar Park City Council approved resolutions during a Jan. 26 meeting to authorize the use of eminent domain for several parcels of land to acquire right of way for the project. Construction is anticipated to begin in June and take approximately 12 months to complete.


Timeline: June 2017-June 2018
Cost: $10.8 million
Funding sources: city of Cedar Park, Williamson County ($1.3 million)

3. Anderson Mill Road realignment


The city of Cedar Park is realigning Anderson Mill Road between RM 1431 and Lime Creek Road and constructing it as a four- and two-lane roadway. City Council issued a notice to proceed for construction Jan. 9, so improvements are now underway, Huerta said. Substantial completion of the realignment project is currently estimated for April 2018.

4. Old FM 2243 widening


The city of Leander is widening Old FM 2243 from two to five lanes, including a center turn lane, between US 183 and a location west of North Lakeline Boulevard. On Feb. 12, Leander City Engineer Wayne Watts said construction crews are making good progress and are currently on schedule.


Timeline: January 2016-October or November 2017
Cost: $24 million (estimated)
Funding sources: city of Leander, Williamson County (50 percent or up to $9.15 million



5. North Bagdad Road expansion


Construction crews will widen part of North Bagdad Road from two to five lanes, which includes a center turn lane, between Old FM 2243 and Collaborative Way in Leander. Watts said construction began on the expansion project in February.

6. East Crystal Falls Parkway turn lane


The project included building a dedicated right-turn lane at the southwest corner of the west side of the intersection of East Crystal Falls Parkway and US 183. The lane was built for drivers heading east and turning southbound. Watts said the city completed the construction work on the project Feb. 11, and all that remains is a final inspection. He said the project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget.
