Here are a few events happening over the weekend in and around Northwest Austin.

THURSDAY


1. Indian Networking Mixer and Showcase
The Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce hosts this event that allows attendees to meet representatives from local community organizations and businesses as well as sample Indian food and drinks. Surendra Adhana, deputy consul general of India, will give a briefing on global business opportunities for local companies looking to expand. According to GAACC, Indian-Americans make up the largest segment of Austin’s Asian-American community.

2. Third Thursdays at Domain Northside’s Rock Rose
Guests can partake in in-store and dining specials as well as live music by acoustic duo Mayeux & Broussard. Participating Rock Rose district businesses and restaurants include Raven + Lily, Thai Kun, General Tso-Boy, Golden Bones, CorePower Yoga, Birds Barbershop, Mia Italian Tapas, The Dogwood, 77 Degrees and Jack & Gingers. The recurring event takes place every third Thursday of the month.

SATURDAY


3. 'Purchased Lives: The American Slave Trade from 1808 to 1865'
The exhibition covers a 57-year period from America’s abolition of the international slave trade through the end of the Civil War. It also includes more than 75 original items, including period broadsides, paintings and prints illustrating the domestic slave trade; ship manifests; and first-person accounts from slave narratives and oral histories.

SUNDAY


4. Austin Marathon and Half Marathon 
Up to 15,000 runners are expected to participate in the race this weekend. A finish-line festival will include live music, a beer garden, and other amenities for participants and spectators. The first marathon runners are expected to reach the finish line by about 9:25 a.m, and the first half-marathon runners are expected to finish by about 8:05 a.m. The marathon course starts and ends on Congress Avenue in downtown Austin.
