Home prices continue to increase in Northwest Austin.[/caption]
What we reported
Austin home prices continued increasing in 2016, pushing out young adults with children into outlying cities, including Pflugerville and Hutto, in search of more affordable housing that fits their families’ needs. For those who can afford the rising home prices, Northwest Austin is a desirable area, in part because of the caliber of local schools and the proximity of high-tech firms. A similar trend is seen in other parts of the city.
The latest
The most recent U.S. Census data, released in December, show Travis County residents continue to move into Williamson County. Net migration estimates between the two reveal about 4,800 more people moving into Williamson County from Travis County, according the 2010-14 American Community Survey 5-year Estimates. Meanwhile, median home prices continue to increase in most areas of Northwest Austin.
What’s next
