What we reported High 5, an entertainment venue featuring bowling, laser tag, arcade games, a restaurant and a bar, opened Jan. 11, 2016, at the Oaks at Lakeway shopping center. High 5 is a “high-class” and “high-tech” venue for all ages, co-owner Scott Emley said.

The latest Now entering its second year of operation, Emley said he was humbled by the process of getting a business set up from scratch, but the results have been worth the effort.

“It’s been amazing,” he said. “What shocked us is people out here really love bowling. Even when they’re not good bowlers, they have a lot of fun.”

Although not only a bowling destination, Emley said he underestimated the interest in the sport, especially from competitive leagues.
High 5 launched its first winter league in December.

Also in December, High 5 was named the Lake Travis Chamber of Commerce’s New Business of the Year.

What’s next “We are still trying to dial in our services and get the word out there about what we offer,” Emley said. “We are looking to expand and are setting sights on another location in the Greater Austin area. [I] can’t say where yet, but that’s going to be a focus.”

During the summer High 5 will again be participating in the national Kids Bowl Free program, which Emley said was highly rewarding in 2016.
