1. Lakeway City Council to discuss short term rentals at meeting tonight
Lakeway City Council will meet at City Hall, 1102 Lohmans Crossing Road, Lakeway, tonight at 6:30 p.m. Council is scheduled to discuss possible changes to the city’s short-term rental policy.
2. Rollingwood City Council to meet 7 p.m. on Wednesday
Rollingwood’s December agenda calls for discussion and possible action to update sections of the city code pertaining to home occupation; swimming pool fences; emergency and utility construction permits; site plan requirements; and estimated fees and revocations for expiring permits.
The council will also discuss the possibility of hiring a city arborist, who would be responsible for performing annual inspections on trees on city property in order to detect possible oak wilt and other issues concerning tree health.
Rollingwood City Council will meet at City Hall, 403 Nixon Drive, Rollingwood.
3. Indoor ice rink open at Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa through Jan. 1
Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa’s indoor ice rink, located at 8212 Barton Club Drive, Austin, will be open through Jan. 1. A portion of the entrance proceeds benefit Make-A-Wish Central and South Texas.
Skating sessions start at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. each day through Dec. 31 and last 90 minutes. Ticket costs vary depending on day and can be purchased in advanced by calling 512-329-4616.
4. Trail of Lights open this week in Austin and Lakeway
Lakeway’s Trail of Lights is currently on display nightly through Jan. 2, 6:30 p.m.-midnight. Parking is available at City Hall, 1102 Lohmans Crossing Road, Lakeway.
Austin’s Trail of Lights is open to the public from 7-10 p.m. until Dec. 23. The trail runs through Zilker Metropolitan Park, 2100 Barton Springs Road, Austin. Entry is $3.
5. Local school districts closed for Winter Break Dec. 19-30
Eanes ISD, Lake Travis ISD and Leander ISD schools and offices are closed over the next two weeks for Winter Break.
Eanes and Lake Travis ISD have a teacher workday Jan.2, and district students return to school Jan. 3. Class resumes for Leander ISD students Jan. 2.
6. City offices closed for Christmas holiday
Lakeway and West Lake Hills city offices will be closed on both Dec. 23 and Dec. 26 for Christmas.
Rollingwood offices will be closed Dec. 26-27 for the holiday.
Bee Cave offices will only be closed Dec. 23.
