A total of 306 students are projected to be affected by the rezoning proposals, including students who are currently enrolled and anticipated new students. This includes 227 elementary school students, 40 middle school students and 39 high school students.
The rezoning proposals would affect fewer students than in previous years.
Despite delaying the opening of four new schools next year, FISD Superintendent Jeremy Lyon said rezoning still needed to be done to provide overcrowding relief.
"Proposals are not a temporary fix but rather they are built to last," Lyon said.
Draft proposals:
- Some students would move from Comstock Elementary School to either Isbell Elementary School or Elliott Elementary School.
- Students would move from Christie Elementary School to Gunstream Elementary School.
- Students from Newman Elementary School would move to Rogers Elementary School.
- Students from Pink Elementary School would move to Carroll Elementary School.
- Students would be moved from Hunt Middle School to Clark Middle School.
- Incoming freshman from Independence High School would be moved to Liberty High School

Families that are expected to be affected by rezoning will be contacted directly by the district. A public hearing is set for Dec. 12, and the board is expected to vote on the attendance zone changes in January.
