Here are 6 things to know this week if you live in Conroe or Montgomery.

1. Conroe City Council will consider a revenue plan for the Parks and Recreation Department during its public meetings this week. The council meets at 2 p.m. Wednesday for its workshop discussion meeting and at 6 p.m. Thursday to take action on items in its agenda. The meetings are open to the public at Conroe City Hall, 300 W Davis St., Ste. 200, Conroe.

2. Montgomery City Council will discuss revisions to plans for the West Side at the Park development at its city meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Council members will also consider granting an alcohol beverage permit to the Hodge Podge Lodge. The meeting is open to the public at Montgomery city hall, 101 Old Plantersville Road, Montgomery.

3. Montgomery County Commissioners Court will consider a resolution opposing a proposed transmission line project by Entergy Texas. The resolution would oppose one of the possible routes for the project, which would cross the Lake Conroe area along FM 1097. The meeting is open to the public at the Montgomery County administration building at 501 North Thompson, Ste. 401, Conroe.

4. The topic of the Montgomery County Animal Shelter is back on the Montgomery County Commissioners Court agenda for tomorrow’s 9:30 a.m. meeting. The court will consider taking action on a proposed 30-day plan for the shelter that was presented in court during a workshop last week. The court is also in search of a new director for the troubled shelter.

5. The Texas Renaissance Festival broke opening weekend enrollment numbers with more than 60,600 visitors between Oct. 8-9. Situated on 60 acres in Todd Mission, about 25 miles west of The Woodlands, there are seven more themed weekends planned this fall. Next weekend’s theme is “1001 Dreams.”
