Pflugerville ISD Superintendent Alex Torrez named Pflugerville Police Lieutenant Jason Smith as police chief of the school district's department.

Smith replaced William Edwards, who was promoted within the Pflugerville Police Department, according to a district statement.

“We are proud to have Chief Smith join the PfISD team,” Torrez said in a statement. “The safety and well-being of our students is a top priority, and he brings an impressive record of experience in that area."

Smith is PfISD Police’s second police chief, according to the release. The department works in cooperation with Pflugerville Police and began in 2008 with Edwards as the chief, according to the release.
