Two Westlake High School students are getting prime parking spots this upcoming school year.

The Eanes Education Foundation, a nonprofit that raises money to fund teachers at Eanes ISD, is auctioning off two front row spots in front of the TLC lot. Only WHS juniors and seniors may park in that parking lot, according to an EEF news release.

Bidding—which is tax deductible—began at 9 a.m. on Aug. 8 and will close at noon Aug. 9. The starting bid is $500, the release said.

Parking has been an issue at WHS, and with 670 seniors and 670 juniors expected in the 2016-17 school year and 839 parking spaces available for student parking, the school district has limited parking permits for juniors to two out of the three 12-week trimesters, according to the district website.

Students who applied for parking passes for the 2016-17 school year can pick up their permits from the attendance office during the following times:

Wednesday, Aug. 3: 1-3 p.m.
Thursday, Aug. 4: 9-11 a.m.
Friday, Aug. 5: 1-3 p.m.

Students are required to present a valid student driver’s license, current proof of driver insurance, updated vehicle information and cash or a check for the parking fee. Permits will also be available Aug. 16, 17 and 19 during the Back to School Start Up Days in Chap Court.
