Bob Janusaitis and David Langenberg have been elected as commissioners to Harris County Emergency Services District No. 9.

Five candidates filed for two open positions, and voters were asked to vote for two of the five as part of the May 7 election. Janusaitis finished with the most votes; he received 396, or 27.14 percent of the vote. Langenberg came in second with 23.44 percent of the vote, or 342 votes. The last three candidates—Mark Bitz, Steven Jackson and Roy Eriksen—finished with 312, 270 and 166 votes, respectively.

Janusaitis, the incumbent in the race, was first elected commissioner in 2012. His background includes firefighting, and serving as an emergency medical technician and as an American Red Cross liaison.

Langenberg began working in fire service in 1998 as a volunteer firefighter for the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department. He serves as a battalion chief and a master peace officer for the Village Fire Department.

Commissioners serve four year terms. Commissioners Betty Boren Avery, Jeremy Martinson and Scott DeBoer will be up for re-election in 2018. Incumbent Suzanne Davis did not file for re-election.
