The Georgetown ISD board of trustees filled the final vacant leadership position for McCoy Elementary School during its meeting Jan. 20.
The board members unanimously approved hiring Lisa Helmle as assistant principal.
Helmle comes from Clear Creek Independent School District in the Houston areaand has served as assistant principal for Ed White Elementary School since 2011.
McCoy has been working to fill vacant principal positions since November when the board of trustees approved former principal Alma Guzman to serve as director of professional learning. Guzmans position was created as part of the districts strategic plan.
In December the board of trustees promoted former assistant principal Tyra Raspberry to principal, and Raspberry began serving as principal in January.
Suzanne Marchman, director of community engagement and communications for GISD, said Helmle is finishing work in her current district and is likely to begin work at McCoy in February, although an official start date has not been set.
