Cane Island, Katy's first master-planned community will feature more than 2,000 homes ranging from the $200,000s to more than $1 million on a 1,000-acre site located west of the Grand Parkway.

The construction of the new Cane Island Parkway interchange, a four-lane, north-south boulevard which will be the neighborhood's main entry and major thoroughfare to Morton Road, is already under construction. Concurrent with the construction of the road is the development of 13 model homes in seven neighborhoods by homebuilders Coventry Homes, David Weekley Homes, Perry Homes, Ryland Homes, Shea Homes, Toll Brothers and Trendmaker Homes.

Located within the Katy ISD, future phases of the community's construction will include the addition of Cane Island Elementary School.

The community is expected to open in mid-2015 and is being developed by Rise Communities.

The community will be located minutes away from Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital and the Energy Corridor, Rise Communities president Dan Naef said.

"Cane Island offers convenient I-10 access, proximity to major employers, new healthcare and shopping, as well as accessibility to other areas of town by the nearby Grand Parkway," Naef said.

The community will include a 4-acre Amenity Center featuring an outdoor amphitheater, a family pool with a splash pad, an adult pool and a two-story fitness center complete with a yoga studio, a multi-purpose room and a commercial kitchen.
