Longtime U.S. Representative Sam Johnson won the Republican nod for 3rd District of Texas U.S. Representative by a landslide.
Johnson defeated challengers by garnering 80.50 percent of the vote.
"Thank you Third District voters," Johnson said. "I fought for the values that I hold dear—faith, family and freedom—and people really responded. What a blessing to serve the dedicated patriots of the Third District."
Challengers Cami Dean (6.30 percent of the vote), Harry Pierce (7.80 percent of the vote) and Josh Loveless (5.40 percent of the vote) trailed Johnson by wide margins.
Johnson has held the post since 1991.
He has no Democratic challenger in the Nov. 4 general election.
Results are unofficial until votes are canvassed.
