Local entrepreneurs and small business owners have the opportunity to participate in the Collin County Governor's Small Business Forum on Oct. 11 in Allen.

The forum is designed to give entrepreneurs and small businesses valuable tools, skills and knowledge needed to succeed in today's business world.

Speakers and seminars will offer information on public and private resources, as well as the opportunity to connect with industry specialists, government officials, service providers and other regional businesses.

Presentations include panel discussions on "Access to Capital" and "Social Media—Beyond Facebook," and there will also be a small business panel relating challenges panelists have faced.

There will also be a keynote address by Bernard Weinstein, associate director of the Maguire Energy Institute and an adjunct professor of business economics in the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University.

Several small businesses will also be recognized by the Governor's Office.

The event is sponsored by the Texas Workforce Commission and local partners, including the Frisco, Allen-Fairview, McKinney and Plano chambers of commerce, the Small Business Development Center of Collin County, and the North Texas Enterprise Center in Frisco.
