Tarrant County will start trapping and testing mosquitos year-round and increase the number of traps this year.
The County Commission on Feb. 26 approved $262,932 to its West Nile Virus Program that will add two full-time staff members, trucks and spray units, a commission briefing says.
The plan calls for starting seasonal work as soon as May 1 or earlier and adding a contingency contract for aerial spraying.
Human cases were confirmed last year in Grapevine, Southlake and Colleyville. The virus first appeared in the U.S. in 1999.
