The 2020 CMT Music Awards, originally set for June 3, has been rescheduled for Oct. 14, the network announced on April 2.
"Our top priority this last month has been rebuilding our hometown of Nashville following the tornado and ensuring the safety of our fans, employees, artists and partners during the COVID-19 crisis," CMT officials said in a statement. "As we look forward to celebrating country music’s biggest stars together with our community and viewers, we will continue to follow the guidance of the CDC and local public health officials."
In addition to postponing the awards show, the Country Music Association announced March 31 the 2020 CMA Fest, originally scheduled for June 4-7, will not be held this year due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak in the region.
Tickets purchased for the 2020 festival will be honored for next year's event, expected to be held June 10-13. Customers also have the option to receive a full refund.
