Hidden gem: Explore Harding Garden at Belle Meade Plantation

Plantation

Those who have toured the Belle Meade Plantation know of its many historical gems located on the grounds, such as the Harding Garden.

The garden, confined to a picket fence next to the Plantation’s two-room Harding Cabin, has been maintained for the last eight years by Master Gardeners of Davidson County in partnership with Belle Meade Plantation.

The organization honors the garden’s historical context by planting many of the same varieties of heirloom vegetables, fruits and flowers once cultivated onsite, including Kentucky Wonder pole beans, Cherokee Purple tomatoes and Tennis Ball lettuce.
