Domenic Micheli, who is accused of murdering his former boss — 46-year-old Joel Paavola — was arrested by Kentucky State Police on Tuesday night.

Here is a breakdown of the timing of events:

April 2017 (14 months ago)

According to Metro Police, Micheli was fired from The Balance Training center where he worked, according to his LinkedIn profile, as a personal trainer. Paavola, who worked as a strength and conditioning coach at the fitness center, fired him for reasons that are still unknown.

April 2018

Micheli was arrested in Washington, D.C. by US Secret Service for ignoring a White House security officer’s directions to move his car. He was charged with unlawful entry and failure to obey, and in the trial, Micheli was deemed competent. A psychologist with Washington’s behavioral health department reported that Micheli was "alert, cooperative, and very pleasant" during an examination, according to a federal court document. The judge in the case found there was no reasonable cause to believe Micheli required additional mental health screenings.

June 4, 2018 6:55 a.m.

The Nashville Police Department received an emergency phone call from The Balance Training on Harding Pike. Micheli had attached Paavola with a hatchet in one hand and “another bladed instrument” in the other hand, according to a MNPD press release. Micheli reportedly paced outside the building before entering and committing the attack.

June 4, 8:16 a.m.

Micheli was spotted entering a Gallatin urgent care facility where he requested a suture kit from the staff. He was told the facility did not sell suture kits and left without offering personal information or waiting to receive treatment.

June 4, 9:15 a.m.

Micheli entered a drugstore in Gallatin to purchase medical supplies.

Evening of June 5

A Kentucky motorist who recognized Micheli’s Toyota Prius called local authorities. A Kentucky state trooper made a traffic stop roughly 25 minutes after the motorist’s call.

June 5, 7:26 p.m.

After a 36-hour manhunt, the Metro Nashville Police Department announced on Twitter that Micheli had been apprehended by Kentucky State Police. Micheli did not resist arrest. He is currently being held without bond in the Warren County jail.
