Public schools in Williamson County will be closed Feb. 16-17 due to inclement weather in the area, according to announcements from Williamson County Schools and Franklin Special School District.

Forecasts from the National Weather Service show ongoing winter storms in Williamson County with between 1-3 inches of snow indicated for the area.

According to the Williamson County Office of Emergency Management, several roadways in the area are iced, over and residents should take "extreme caution when venturing outdoors," although they are advised to stay home if possible.

WCS's School Aged Child Care program will also be closed.
