Hillsboro School Principal Cameron Gish has created a feedback form for members of the community to fill out that asks how people feel about the current mascot and what information the believe the school should consider regarding potential changes to the mascot.
"We encourage students, families, faculty/staff, alumni and community members to share their feedback with the committee using the form," Gish said in a release. "Hillsboro School has a rich tradition of excellence, and we value each person who has contributed to this outstanding legacy."
This announcement comes weeks after the district announced that the mascot of Franklin High School would change from the Rebels to the Admirals after members of the community called for the removal of the Confederate-themed name.
According to WCS, this is not a vote to change the mascot, and the district is not asking for new mascot suggestions.
Members of the community, students and parents can find the feedback form here. Feedback will be accepted through Sept. 22.
