The Williamson County Fair Association announced April 14 its plan to purchase $50,000 worth of gift cards from local businesses to donate to health care workers amid the coronavirus pandemic.

According to a release from the association, about 1,000 healthcare professionals and first responders will receive gift cards from 27 local businesses, with some businesses matching the purchase from the WCFA to support the cause.

“Coupled with its mission to celebrate the county’s agricultural resources with a nine-day fair each year, the intent of the WCFA is to stimulate the civic welfare and betterment of Williamson County, Tennessee by supporting the community, its residents and its workers through its locally owned businesses,” WFCA representatives said in the release.

Along with its gift card purchases and donations, the WCFA will also donate funds to help support GraceWorks Ministries, a nonprofit that assists those in need of food, clothing and shelter, and One Generation Away, a nonprofit dedicated to eliminating hunger in the Middle Tennessee area.
