Alamo Drafthouse Cinema formally announced it will open a theater in Gilbert.

The construction site at The Shops at Circle G Ranch Corporate Park at East Ray Road and Williams Field Road had for several weeks had a sign posted that said an Alamo Drafthouse Cinema would be coming soon. However, the company remained mum until its announcement Jan. 8 about any details.

The company still has not revealed a date for opening at 5478 S. Power Road in Gilbert, just that it will be "very soon."

The theater will have eight auditoriums with all-reserved seating, oversized recliners and advanced projection. Like all Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas, it will have in-theater food and beverage service.

The theater also is known for strict enforcement of its no-talking, no-texting policy.

The company has 39 theaters nationally, with 13 more scheduled to come online in the next couple years. Gilbert will be the third Arizona location after Chandler and Tempe.
