After a soft opening at the end of August, Creekwood Grill is up and running this week at 12710 Telge Road, Cypress.

The family-friendly restaurant was started by two Cy-Fair area restaurateurs, Brian Sandel and Mark McShaffry. The duo spent several months this summer renovating the restaurant, which is located in the building that formerly housed P.O.'s Burgers.

The menu features a variety of burgers as well as sandwiches, chicken tender plates and tacos.

The restaurant's P.O. Burger is meant to honor the building's former occupant, which served burgers on Telge Road for decades before closing in early 2015. The P.O. Burger is made with the original recipe, Sandel said.

Sandel said the restaurant itself is decorated with P.O.'s memorabilia along with memorabilia from Cypress Saloon, a honky tonk dance hall that was located onsite.

"We’re trying to make sure we honor the legacy of the history of this location," Sandel said.

Craft beer was also a priority when designing the menu, Sandel said. Creekwood offers 38 beers on draft and another 18 in bottles or cans. Local options include brews from Saint Arnold Brewing Company, Real Ale Brewing Company, Bearded Fox Brewing Company and 8th Wonder Brewery, among others.
