According to officials the city of McKinney's Development Services department, as of Jan. 8 Costco was expected to receive engineering permits sometime in mid-January and building permits by the end of January. Wanda Jorgenson, administrative assistant at Costco's real estate department, said it will take about 100 days to open a store once construction begins.

Costco expects to open at the northeast corner of Hardin Boulevard and US 380. The membership wholesaler has stores throughout the area, including both Frisco and Plano. The building will be approximately 150,000 square feet with more than 700 parking spaces and a members-only fuel station. Costco officials said the store would be slightly larger in size and offerings than its Frisco location. www.costco.com
