Today marked the final networking luncheon for the Oak Hill Business & Professional Association after low membership and a lack of board members forced the club to close. Founded in 1981, OHBPA was formed as a way to communicate information about traffic, local elections and more to the residents of Oak Hill, President Stacy Bray said. The association held monthly networking luncheons to connect area entrepreneurs in hopes of advancing the business and civic interests of Oak Hill. In 2013 the association founded the Oak Hill Young Business Award as a way to encourage entrepreneurship among the area's youth population. But as time went on Bray said the association had trouble gaining new members, especially millennials. When no one would step up to take Bray's place as president, she said she had no choice but to end the association. The association will offer the young business award for another year, and interested applicants are encouraged to apply before the end of December. Participants submit a business plan for a project or endeavor they have envisioned, and finalists present their idea in a formal interview. The young entrepreneur with the best business plan is awarded $8,000 to use however he or she sees fit. Oak Hill Business & Professional Association 6705 W.
