Seeds of Strength, a women’s philanthropic group that raises money for Georgetown-area nonprofits, announced $173,000 in grant funding and gifts May 3 to 10 local organizations.

Founded in 2010, Seeds of Strength, 116 W. Eighth St., Ste. 203, Georgetown, aims to increase awareness of community needs and improve arts and culture, health, family, education and financial security in Georgetown.

Official grants were awarded to:

  • Annunciation Maternity Home, $20,000

  • Backpack Buddies, $25,000

  • Boys & Girls Club of Georgetown, $20,000

  • CASA of Williamson County, $24,000

  • Faith in Action Georgetown, $25,000

  • Girlstart, $10,000

  • Literacy Council of Williamson County, $23,000

  • The Georgetown Project, $25,000


Additionally, Seeds of Strength gave gifts of $500 each to AGE of Central Texas and Girls Empowerment Network as an acknowledgment of the both organizations’ community work, according to a news release. www.seedsofstrength.org
