Portable classrooms at Cook Elementary School located at 1511 Cripple Creek Drive, Austin, will be decorated with murals this spring as a part of a school beautification project organized by North Austin-based nonprofit Rundberg Rising.

The murals are part of a series of beautification projects at Cook Elementary School that began with UT students improving the school’s gardens and pressure washing the exterior of the portables in preparation for fresh coats of paint.

A “Tree of Knowledge” mural on the main building was completed on March 16 with help from AmeriCorps Volunteers.

Volunteers will paint the portable classrooms with solid colors followed by images of animals and other critters beginning March 31 if weather permits and continue the project throughout the spring and into the summer if necessary, Caro Dubois of Rundberg Rising said.
