Lake Austin water levels are back to normal Water levels at Lake Austin returned to normal Monday after a six-week drawdown by the Lower Colorado River Authority. The lake was lowered Jan. 2 to give property owners an opportunity to repair and maintain docks and other lakeside structures. Oak tree pruning is prohibited through June in Bee Cave, Lakeway, Rollingwood and West Lake Hills To prevent the spread of oak wilt disease, the four municipalities have ordinances in place that prohibit pruning or trimming oak trees from Feb. 1-June 30. Two special meetings are scheduled in Lakeway this week Lakeway City Council will meet Monday at 2 p.m. for a special meeting to discuss and possibly call for a May 6 bond election regarding the proposed Lakeway Justice Center. At a special meeting Tuesday at 2 p.m., City Council and the zoning and planning commission are scheduled to have a workshop regarding an 82-acre tract off Lohmans Crossing Road. Meetings are held at Lakeway City Hall, 1102 Lohmans Crossing Road, and agendas can be found of the city’s website. Rally for Love and Unity is set for Tuesday The Rally for Love and Unity is set for Tuesday to offer encouragement and support for members of an Islamic Center that burned down Jan. 7. The event, organized by the Lake Travis Progressives, is set to take place at noon at the site of the center’s fire, 4700 Doss Road, Austin, in the Hudson Bend neighborhood. The rally will include drafting cards and notes of support for members of the center’s Muslim congregation. For more information, read our article about the rally. Bee Cave City Council will meet Tuesday Bee Cave City Council will meet at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 4000 Galleria Parkway. The agenda, which can be found on the city’s website, includes five items scheduled for executive session. Rollingwood City Council will meet Wednesday Rollingwood City Council will convene at City Hall, 403 Nixon Drive, for its February meeting Wednesday at 7 p.m. Council is scheduled to discuss a “hands-free” ordinance to regulate the use of cellphones and other electronic devices while operating a motor vehicle. Candidate filing period closes Friday for local May elections Those interested in running for a seat on city council in Bee Cave, Lakeway or West Lake Hills or  a seat on the school board in Eanes or Lake Travis ISDs have until Friday at 5 p.m. to file for candidacy.
