The Keller ISD Citizens Bond Advisory Committee presented its list of project recommendations for the board of trustees to put on a November bond.

The committee selected 11 projects from the Long Range Facilities plan at its July 16 meeting. These projects range from entire school replacements to districtwide technology upgrades. Together, the projects will cost just under $315 million.

"We wanted to create a bond package that we thought would pass," committee member Paul Sikes said. "We worked to ensure equity and that everyone in the community was equally served and represented."

The following projects were proposed to the board.

Whitley Road Elementary School replacement
The replacement will cost $32.33 million, and the new building will be designed for 540 students. The proposed completion date is 2022.

Florence Elementrary School replacement
The replacement will cost $30.09 million and will be designed to accommodate 540 students. The proposed completion date is 2021.

Districtwide MEP & Life Safety Upgrades, package 1
The first package in this plan will replace heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems; fire alarm systems; PA systems; and primary power equipment to Keller High School, Fossil Ridge High School, Bear Creek Intermediate School, Chisholm Trail Intermediate School, Willis Lane Elementary School and North Riverside Elementary School. The estimated cost will be $30.8 million. This phase's proposed completion date is 2021.

District-Wide Technology Upgrades
With the exception of the schools being fully replaced, every campus would receive upgrades and replacements to cabling infrastructure and other technological necessities. The estimated cost is $24.33 million, and the proposed completion is 2021.

Keller Middle School renovations
Renovations to Keller Middle School would include additions to fine arts areas and athletics. The cost of the project is $25.41 million, and the proposed completion is 2022.

Fossil Hill Middle School renovations
Fossil Hill Middle School's project would be for fine arts additions and minor academic renovations. The cost of the project $18,321, and the proposed completion is 2022.

New Agricultural Science Center
The center will feature a laboratory and shop for students to research, explore emerging technologies and trades such as construction, electrical, plumbing and more. The cost is $21.51 million. The proposed completion date is 2023.

Indoor Extra-Curricular Programs Facilities
Every high school will receive an indoor facility for athletics, band, dance and whoever else needs to use it. The facility will have restrooms, a 100-yard turf field and equipment for all outdoor sports, and the estimated cost is $48.63 million. The proposed completion date is 2023.

Board Vice President Ruthie Keyes was excited about the propositions.

"When [I saw] the extracurricular facility, I got excited because elementary schools won't have to cancel their field days," Keyes said.

In addition to the presentation of the projects, district Chief Financial Officer Mark Youngs gave a brief outline of the future of bond elections to complete projects on the Long Range Facilities Plan.

"Right now we're looking at four [bond] elections over the next 12 years," Youngs said.

The board of trustees will hold a special meeting Aug. 12 to determine if they want to call for a bond. The latest date the board can call for a bond is Aug. 19. If a bond is called, early voting would be Oct. 21-Nov. 1 with the final voting day Nov. 5.
